Our Story
Elite academies have always had structured, coach-written development plans for every player. Most clubs don't — a scoresheet handed out once a season, if that. TryoutScout exists so any club, at any level, can give its players the same kind of individual development plans, tryout-to-season tracking, and family communication that used to be reserved for the biggest programs.
Justin Bogus
Co-Founder
Justin has coached soccer for over 20 years: from young beginners learning the fundamentals, to teenagers at the club and high school levels, to junior college athletes developing their game for what's next. Along the way he's been honored to work alongside some of the best coaches in the country, building a simple philosophy: player and athlete first. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Education; setting clear professional goals, while learning from like-minded coaches and educators, has let him spend most of his career in the classroom or on the field, trying to have a positive impact on the next generation of students, athletes, and leaders. He's seen that kids grow through honest, specific feedback and their own self-reflection, which is what turns notes into a real coaching conversation, whether with one athlete or a whole team. He built TryoutScout to track that progress two ways: this season, and over the years, because a competitive mindset built the right way is one of the most useful things a young athlete carries into life. That's been true since he started building TryoutScout: if it isn't good for coaches, we don't do it. It's a decision made by someone who's out there coaching with it, not sitting behind a desk in a boardroom.
Heather Bogus
Co-Founder
Heather brings a decade of licensed massage therapy and team leadership, another decade as a certified teacher, and a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design, where good design meant real attention to detail, whether that's a floor plan built around how a family lives or a renovation built around what a space actually needs. She's also spent years leading community groups focused on youth education and experiences that leave a positive impact on kids, and more than 13 years of yoga practice keeps her grounded through all of it. All of that is built around the same idea: people grow when someone pays close, patient attention to how they're actually doing. As a mom, she's watched that same principle play out in youth sports; a season of honest, positive feedback does more for a young athlete's competitive drive than a single tryout scoresheet ever could, and the resilience and work ethic built on the field carry into everything else. That's the perspective she brings to TryoutScout: development that tracks real progress, season after season, and treats every kid's growth as the point, not just the roster decision.
