Athlete guide

This is for players 14 and older who have their own TryoutScout account. It's where you see your schedule, your development plan, your coach's reflection questions and your team chat.

Getting in

How do I sign in the first time?

Your parent or guardian sets up your account. You get an email from TryoutScout with a link.

  1. Open the link.
  2. Choose a password.
  3. Next time, sign in at tryoutscout.com/login with your email and password.
  • Forgot your password? Use Forgot password on the sign-in page.
  • If you see that your account is turned off for now, your parent or guardian has paused it. Nothing you wrote is deleted.

What's in my menu?

  • Dashboard: what's next, and a short getting-started checklist.
  • IDP Evaluations: your development plan.
  • My Reflections: questions from your coach.
  • Calendar, Season Stats, Team Chat and My Profile.

Your IDP

What is my IDP?

Your IDP is your plan for the season: a list of skills grouped into sections. Each one is rated Strength (you do it well), Improving (getting there) or Opportunity (the next thing to work on). They aren't grades. They help you and your coach agree on what's next.

How do I rate myself?

  1. When your coach releases your IDP, you see Rate now on your Dashboard.
  2. Rate yourself on each row. You won't see your coach's ratings yet, so your answers are really yours.
  3. Select Submit Self-Assessment.

How do I book my IDP meeting?

You meet with your coach for 15 minutes before your plan is published, in person or by video call.

  1. Open your IDP.
  2. Under Book your IDP meeting, pick a time.
  • Use Change time to move it, or Give back this time to free it.

When do I see my coach's ratings?

After the meeting your coach publishes your plan. Then you see both sets of ratings side by side, plus your coach's notes on your strengths, your opportunity and an action plan. Published plans stay in your history.

Reflections

How do I answer a reflection?

  1. Open My Reflections.
  2. Answer What Went Well and Even Better If. A sentence or two is plenty.
  3. Select Submit Reflection.
  • Your coach reads your answers. Your parents or guardians and your club's directors can read them too.

Calendar

How do I put the schedule on my phone?

  1. Open Calendar.
  2. Select Generate Subscribe Link and follow the steps for your calendar app.
  • If an event asks for a response and you can't make it, select Can't make it and add a short reason.

Team chat

Who can see Team chat?

Your parents or guardians, your coaches and your club's directors. That's on purpose: it keeps every conversation between players and adults out in the open. There are no private messages between you and a coach.

  • Your club sets hours when players can read but not post. By default that is 9 PM to 6 AM.
  • Your coach may make the channel announcement-only for a while.
  • You can mute the chat from its menu. If a message isn't OK, use Report. A club director will review it.

Quick answers

Can my parents see what I write?

Yes. Your parents or guardians can see your Team chat, your reflection answers and your self-ratings.

Can I message my coach privately?

Not in TryoutScout. Post in Team chat, or ask your parent to message the coach through Coach Messages.

Who sees my profile?

Club staff can see your profile details, so only add what you are comfortable sharing with them.
